    Janet,
If you go to the General Erbium disscusion, there is a 3 page thread there on anesthesia, that Pat started. Let me know if it helps, Glenn can help you much better with the Continuum, the Waterlase is a bit different, but the basics SHOULD be the same.

    Mark and members,
Is there any information (or in your experience) to indicate that the numbing of a tooth is proportional to the watts applied and the time of application.

If this is the case would it follow that a tooth which is a little sensitive to the laser in dentin can be made predicably less sensitive by an additional application of de focusing at higher watts and a longer time?

Repaired a second molar today primarily with the drill after “numbing it with the laser”. Kind of sweet I thought. He did not want to be anesthetized. Who need it anyway.

Again Pat, you already have it figured out. Just defocus for a bit at the higher wattage, sometimes you have to watch the air/h2o ratio a bit, for 90 seconds again, then go at it again, usually this reanesthetizes the tooth you are working on. Hope this helps. This seems to work for most of the Waterlase users I have talked with.
