    Glenn,

    Thanks for posting the reference.

Regarding what you are now writing, you have to present what you think is the best information and I know that wasn’t easy given the volume of what’s out there. I am sure your work would present a fair literature review. If it is not published nor available, then it cannot be covered. Measurement technologies are getting better but I think we are still a several years away from being able to get time lapsed data of ablation and hydrodynamics — so we can look forward to your periodic updates of new data in the public domain. Happy new year.

Thanks Ray: I wanted people to know that I tried to present as good a chapter as I can given the fact that I am a clinician and not a researcher so its tough for me to interpret all the research that is out there.

I am doubtful that ever there will be complete closure to this issue and in addition I believe in my heart that whatever happens for one wavelength happens very similar to another in the erbium family. I have never believed that it magically happens to a huge extent for one compared to the other.

Finally Ray I wanted you to know that I tried darn hard to get the proper papers for statements that certain companies have made regarding their product, to substantiate these.

I was promised that papers would arrive. I tried to go to a lecture to hear it from a gurus own mouth as to how it works. I was denied entrance to the lecture even after I was officially invited by the speaker.

I have toned down my remarks in all forums but when people do read the chapter I hope that there is recognition of a few main points.

    1. I tried to be even handed in my representation.
    2. I am primarily a clinician who knows pretty well the pros and cons of using the product.
    3. I tried to educate people as to what the laser can do given the restrictions of publishing a scientific look at all hard tissue lasers.

    Hope that helps.

Take care and again, sorry if I seemed snitty but the lack of cooperation of certain individuals really should be apparent so that I am not crucified for not giving both sides of the story…….when in all honesty all I got was one side.

All the best and happy new year and its gonna be a good year for all the laser companies and lasers are a real buzz word in the dental field these days.

    Glenn
