Walinski, Christopher. Waterlase Clinical Techniques. 2003. Cingulum New Media. http://www.nelaser.org/

Written by fellow “Townie” and Laser Dentistry Forum member Chris Walinski, this book has lots of specific techniques, tips and many color photos. Although the book is written specifically for the Biolase Waterlase 2780 nm erbium, in my opinion the techniques apply to both erbium wavelengths.

I just made the leap and purchased a DeLight this week. Not sure about the delivery date yet.

What would be the current best recommendation for a text to get started with? Will do the Nash/Lowe program in March, can’t get to anything else sooner because of conflicting commitments.

Hi Dennis,
The text recommendation kind of depends on what you want .
Glenn wrote a great chapter in Dental Clinics of North America which discusses both physics and cases.

Manni has a good read on Dental Applications of Advanced Lasers, mostly a comparison of wavelengths and the physics.

Tuner and Hode -Laser Therapy- mostly  biostim related

Chris Walinski’s book is a good cookbook type and I’d bet Mark Colonna’s DVD is good. Don’t worry about the er:YAG vs. er,crYSGG. Erbiums are erbiums and work the same way (contrary to what you might hear in some places, also noting the exception on how you use contact tips with Opus). With the er,crYSGG material you will have to convert their power settings from watts to mjoules. The water settings are controlled differently also on a Delight so do a search here because I know Glenn and a few others have discussed that.

You will find a ton of cases here also, so don’t hesitate about asking questions when you find something you’re interested in doing.

Welcome to the world of laser dentistry and LDF !

Thanks Ron

I had also posted at Dentaltown asking about Colonna’s DVD. I take it you would recommend it no matter which laser?

I would also very much like to be up to speed (and more) when I take the Nash/Lowe course in March.

Murph,
Sorry, I have been moving my office into temporary digs while they remodel the old one…you can get the DVD by emailing lisa@waterlasetraining.com. Ron is right on on applications. THere are some differences, and he has addressed those already.

Have great Holiday Season!

Thanks, Mark. I’ll contact Lisa ASAP.

Laser will be delivered on Monday. I hope I have some time this week to play with it. Great present, bad timing as far as being able to stay at the office and ignore the family.

Good luck with your remodel. I hate working in dust.
