I am trying Ron but I do feel exhausted these days. ITs taking far longer than I thought it would ……..8 more days to heal.

    David,
Sorry I’m going to miss the ALD. I just re-located my office and had to choose between the MDT meeting or ALD. You don’t have to worry about me being an examiner.
The pulse duration is set on the OpusDuo Erbium, unlike the PerioLase. The value must be a range. Pulse Rate (Hertz) is variable and can be decreased using the foot control.
I’ll send you out a company photo of the Laser.

    Jeff,
I can see why you would do the MDT over the ALD. Maybe next year I’ll see you at an MDT meeting.
    Thanks for the help.

    Glenn,

I suppose time will tell. 1.5 mm seems like minimum but it depends on the patient.

Have you seen much rebound on cases in the past?

I have definitely treated patients with gingivectomy and not had problems. I am now doing more osseous using Danny Melkers flap design and philosophy and enjoying the results!

    See ya

What is the dif between WCLI and ALD. I think I already know. Does Biolase own WCLI? Maybe this is a dumb question.

Yes, WCLI is owned by Biolase and is exclusive for its customers or prospects. Some need not apply…….

ALD has its own agenda, but welcomes any and all to participate.

Andy, I too have learned alot from Danny. This patient actually had open flap on the lower but not the maxilla.

I actually like the results on the maxilla more but my error was that the staff thought I was doing the same on the lower arch as the maxilla and scheduled the patient for 4 hours of preps 1-2 weeks after the open flap. Tissue hadnt healed, I still went ahead, and now suspect that the lower arch may need a graft on the lower anterior. My surgical skills still dont rival many out there yet but I am trying to improve.

ALl the best and to be honest there is so much stuff coming out right now on laser assisted closed flap osseous that its mind boggling. I had a guy give me a bad time after the last Nash Institute telling me he was doing closed flap for everything and had zero problems and was wondering why I was recommending so much open flap with the laser for multiple teeth or multiple surfaces…….

Goes to show you I have come along way from yours, Hack2 and Dannys pushing.

Still not there yet but getting there!!

Welcome Bigtooth and on this forum there are no dumb questions. I for one would love to attend the WCLI one year but only those owning a Biolase machine need apply. I think that alot of the procedures being done by clinicians using the Biolase products can be transferred over successfully to those using Hoya or Opus products.

THe ALD is a non brand specific agency, that emphasizes the safe use and educated use of lasers in dentistry. They are not so focussed on brands but more focussed on operators learning about basic laser science and physics in an environment that is not that heavy on sales (not so when you attend a companies sponsored educational symposium REGARDLESS of the company).

I for one enjoy the ALD meeting because it is an opportunity for me to see ALL lasers and I hope to get a good look at the Waterlase MD and other products this year. If you are a keener you can really do alot of homework here and your due diligence in finding out which wavelength and in the end which laser is the best for your practice.

Welcome Bigtooth and remember that this forum is less about which brand and more about sharing of information and ideal education in laser physics and science than many other areas on the net.

Its the university approach to education as opposed to the Pub type atmosphere found elsewhere on the net!

Both can have merit depending on what kind of mood you are in!!

………and my wife Janna will be there.

    Glenn,

It’s amazing how a relatively “minor” surgery can just wipe out your energy and stamina.

It took me months to get my stamina back after my Achilles tendon surgery. 2 hours a day at first was all I could muster.

Then, 4 weeks ago, I pinched a ligament in my back–OUCH!! I’ve bveen only able to work 1/2 days until this week. Even then I was pretty much in a pain fog–not ablle to do more than single tasking. My staff kept asking the same from me and expecting me to be my normal multi-tasking self.

    Wow! What an energy drainer……….

    So, I feel your pain–OK, your exhaustion……..we ain’t 18 years old anymore.

Take it easy and get well sooner.

It is weird Bob how much the surgery drags out of you. Physically I am getting closer to feeling normal but as you mentioned mentally I am exhausted.

I have this week to recover, can you believe it, only one week today til we go.

Its gonna be fun……..Tell Janna not to worry about the beads……I am bringing a ton for her !!
