How does the laser actually effect pain relief with oral ulcers, ie what is the mechanism of action. Are we destroying nerve endings, creating a coagulum type bandaid? Anyone with any laser , thanks?

In addition, heat photons dentaure proteins, certain wavelengths biomodulate unmylenated c-fibers by changing the cell membrane’s permeability to Ca and K, perhaps. N-IR lasers reduce the inflammatory response, by interferring with the Arachodonic cascade, hence reduceing the bradykinines and cytokines, which themselves are heat labile……..just some of my thoughts from my readings over the years.
jetsfanSpectator1 week follow up on patient with paraneoplastic pemphigoid.
Patient gleefully reported that this is the first time in ten years she is pretty much pain free in mouth. She had me do a few more ulcers that bothered her but was confident that it would feel even better tomorrow.
As she is in the area once a month I expect to see heragain.
ASISpectatorGood for her. It’s great when spmething relatively simple is done to bring about a drastic improvement for the patient.
