I’m still waiting on a call on the demise of my diode from the manufacturer. I’d like some ammo from any diode user on the longevity and history of their &#3620K piece of equipment.

The manufacturer (nameless until I hear back from them) FedExed a box for return shipment of the diode. They claim to have never heard of a diode laser going up in smoke.

A one year warranty on a &#3620K piece of equipment sounds pretty fishy.  Let’s hope that the manufacturer does the right thing here and gets it back to my office at no charge.

Brian, I will be honest and tell you I have never heard of a diode frying out (up in smoke). I have to talk to my laser tech tomorrow (he works for a hospital) about my dead Argon (remote controller dead) and I will ask him if diodes fry up like yours did or if it is just a freaky occurrence.

Sounds interesting. I´m developing diode lasers for 6 years now. And over all we nearly produced 1.000 units. But i never heard that one of these units burnt or smoked. Even if the cooling breaks down completely , there should be a sensor to switch off the unit automaticly.
