    Hi Leo,

    Welcome to the forum.

    Your English needs no apology.

I find that if it is a very narrow prep, the judicial use of handpiece to open up a little more for access of the laser tip will help.

    Thanks Albert.

Tell me when it happens and also what settings. Do you also get an error 98 as well?

    Greetings,

I now have the Waterlaser and the Periolase and am thinking about how to maximize their use. We started off thinking of putting each in its own room but am realizing I will miss many opportunities for one laser or the other. It looks now like we will work out of one room for most production and use a second room for seatings, fittings and similar procedures. Any suggestions based on your experience as to placement and arrangement in the operatory?

Hi there: I now have four lasers in the office. I think to maximize the usage a diode or periolase could be on a cart and moved between rooms (hygiene and Main ops).

The erbium I leave in one room.

Its bigger and more difficult to move.

Just an idea and I like my Cart that we have two of the lasers on.

If I get a chance to post pics I will.

    Glenn,

Thanks for your comments.  Our lasers are on carts and moveable.  I have a location where I could slide then into a wall and have them available directly at hand when I am working on a patient.  This would make it possible to pull them just a few inches to orient the machine to what ever we are doing.  They can still be moved to my other op when required.  I just need to make the hole in the wall etc.

just a quick note on what a wonderful meeting Biolase put on this past weekend …It was nice to meet a bunch of you, finally putting faces to internet names. Ron, I hope Chef Vola lived up to it reputation. Al, it was nice to finally meet. E mail me that picture we took if u can . Mark , it always a pleasure hanging out with u . Looking forward to more fun times together. Robert Tracy aka ( Jetsfan) put on a real moving lecture on marketing. Thanks Rob! Alot of great stuff going on out there..it seems like the sky is the limit when it comes to what we are able to provide these days out patients. I saw lectures on distraction osteogenesis using the laser to make the cuts, sinus lifts, chin block grafts, etc all using the waterlase for cutting soft tissue and bone. The restorative uses seem endless. C+B Preps, operative, Endo, Perio, and surgery options are endless. Wow, What a meeting!! Thanks to all of u that attended my lecture on marketing. I hope I was able to send u home with a pearl or 2. Once again its nice to have u guys as my laser extended family….

Well I thought I’d start a post regarding the WCLI meeting in NJ.

Among the more interesting things I learned-

Aussie wondermix for temps and pulp exposures, can’t wait to get some [the mix, not the exposures;) ]

    Mark Colonna Bulk Reduction tips

    Soft tissue coding for medical

How to better standardize my photos

Using just slow speed suction w/ the laser- what a difference cutting

pk settings -tested mine and they need resetting

    Things I liked –

spending time w/ Mark ,Robert, Ron, David (glad I could help get you more time on the computer and a new laser), Al, Stu, Bob B

Getting to meet Tarun, Sameer, Graeme, and other presenters as well as Paul, Tim, and all the other laser dentists who confirmed how much laser dentists like to share and see others suceed.

    The food!

    Disappointments

The hotel-old and musty (at least my room)

The advanced perio presenter (not Bob Barr) who was extolling the virtues of the Waterlase for perio and when questioned cited references that studied the nd:YAG and when asked about the relevence suggested I email him at home because the study must be in his database.

How about the rest of the attenders sharing what they learned and thought?

What a great meeting. I was actually awed by what I learned there. I was almost convinced to go with the DElight, but, with that kind of cutting edge research and support, I bought a Waterlase today. Can’t wait to get started!!

Along the same lines as Ron:
Among the more interesting things I learned-
    Ditto plus.
Cranking the waterlase down. That is using 1.75W with 60A and 30Water to cut enamel at 1mm . Have not done a Class 1 yet. But Holy cow it worked and use a bunch less water.
I was right on with Treating that geographic Tongue and two of biostim lectures were great . More on that later.
    Use of Iodine rinse .
    The Colonna reduction tips!!!!!!

    Things I liked-
Getting to meet everyone . Putting that face to a name.Seeing old friends.
Seeing smoke come out of Ron’s ears after the advanced perio. program!!! smile.gif
Allen, saving my hide by repeating everyones name for me at least 10 times a day.
Busting Larry’s chops about not buying the waterlase and threating to put him out on the street on our way to the airport.
    Ditto the food!!!
    Disappointments-
Not getting to take Sameer’s and Tarun’s course.
Several evil people who told my wife how much I am on the forms!
Not having a real certification course.
Not being aable to bust Stu’s chops about getting a lobster dinner anymore!! smile.gif.
The two hour plane delay along with not being able to get out of the plane once we got to Tampa!

Over all a great meeting. Another one of those rare meetings that you find easy to talk with the lectures and they were very giving of information.

    Marc- Andre,
Thanks for your comments.  I will let you know how my system works.  I want the lasers immediately available when I am working similar to my handpieces as my approach is laser assisted and I want to make it simple for the staff.  We can move the lasers as we have installed quick disconnect water and air (different size quick connect) in both operatories.

For example, today I removed some gingival tissue with the waterlaser from the mesial root of a lower first molar as there was decay below the level of the tissue.  I wanted the Waterlaser for the hard tissue application.  There was some bloody weeping of the tissue.  The Periolase is over in the corner and would need to be moved etc. so I opted for Hemodent.   Soon I should be able to grab the Periolase fiber and create hemostasis because it is right there and already hooked up to power.

Skied Mon Tremblant once.  Stayed in San Jovite.  Great time.  Voulez vous dance avec moi.  The sum total of my french but it was all I needed to know.

Pat, I tried to keep my Lasersimle and the waterlase in one room. Just too much hassle. I have it so I can use them in any room. They get moved around a bunch. I do like the idea of being able to do any procedure in any room. Then again when I get a scope, that just won’t work. I mean if I get a scope!!
    David
I am not getting and scope. I am not getting a scope!

    My turn,
I hope that I don’t erect another brick wall with my posting.

    Things learned:
vestibuloplasty, torus removal, 3rd molar ext., apico
LLLT and how to pronounce Graeme’s last name.
Most importantly I learned there is not just one way to do things (like perio). That we are collectively setting the standards.

    Things I enjoyed:
the second lobster and the 5th and 6th soft shell crabs.
    conversing with others without typing
    actually meeting many of you
    The “HYDROKINETICS”
    the comaraderie
    winning the golfing contest

OK ,so I didn’t win, but I did manage to hit the ball without hurting anyone.

    Regrets:
not having time to see all the great lecturers

    David,
I hope I didn’t get you into hot water with the in-law remark.
