    Ron,
That’s a really nice set up. I love the rock wall!

What camera set up do you have and how do you have it connected in? Do you have a live video feed and a still camera, or are you doing it with one camera? Is it run through your computer or fed into the monitor directly?

I’m still in the process of setting up my video feed for patients and assistant to view, so would like any info you can supply.
    Thanks

I have not test driven the laser. It does exist as mentioned and will debut at the Chicago Midwinter and I do know that there will be some tremendous educational training tied to it.

Other than that I know a little more but not more than what is posted here, but it will have a different appearance than the old unit!!

    Ron,

What camera set up do you have and how do you have it connected in? G-5

Do you have a live video feed and a still camera, or are you doing it with one camera? Both, We usually have overhead with G5 feed and the monitor on the stone fireplace with the live video(for the assistant-I’m left handed), although they can both receive either.

Is it run through your computer or fed into the monitor directly? Direct. If we want to import something to Schick, we pull the memory card and put it in a card reader on the computer. We had a foot monitor but found we could accomplish the same thing with the overhead and have less things getting accidently pushed into the delivery tray or scope.

I’m still in the process of setting up my video feed for patients and assistant to view, so would like any info you can supply.
    Thanks

I just received my Odyssey diode laser and am ready to begin my journey into laser dentistry.

Newbie question: When you treat a lesion in the prodromal stage, can you visualize the lesion area? Or are you depending on patient’s report to guide you as to where you need to treat?

I will be getting higher magnification loupes really soon …..I have been procrastinating. My office has been open just about 2 months now….so you know how it is. But I am going to get some from designs for vision …SOON, really Soon. I promise!

I do however have a question, ( I have many but I will just ask this one).
Why am I , or what am I doing to  blow a hole in the cannula (almost in the middle) of my 80 degree tips? I wipe with cavicide before sterilization and run in the Statim with handpieces. Am I  supposed to use steam sterilization?? it’s been 2 in 2 weeks. I called HOYA and luckily I am still on the “tip amnesty” program and they will replace for free. I am happy about that.

Help  with any info before I take out another tip!

How would all of you handle this? I spoke today to a Dr. Lawney, who is the person to speak to about licensing and legalities in the state of New York…I asked him about the use of lasers by hygienists in the state of New York…His runaround answer was the following: In New York a hygienist can use anything that they are properly trained to use within the scope of what is permitted and acceptable within their lecensure. When i asked him about approval of laser use in NY, his answer was, we dont approve devices meaning, they dont approve, cavitrons, prophy jets etc…As long as it is within the scope of dental hygiene it is permitted and if a complaint were to arise they would evaluate the situation on a case by case basis….
That being said…Would u allow a hygienist is NY to use a Diode or an Erbium laser to Pocket disnfect/calculus removal etc….and would u feel comfortable if a legal situation would arise?

It wont take me long to figure it out, if you want I will be able to…….

I havent got one, probably will have played with it by then, but perhaps best to ask Tom Haney when they will be actually available.

I’ve heard there will be an upgrade that can be placed on the old unit so it will function like the new unit. Any one here of this and know the cost of it?

I spoke to my Hoya rep and he said that they will have the new lasers at the Chicago meeting. There will be upgrades available to all existing DeLights. He wasn’t sure but thought the “Versawave” would be about &#3610,000 more than the DeLight but the upgrade about &#366000. I guess we will all know for sure at the show in 2 weeks.

Just wanted to let you guys know that DRK Liquid is the same as TAC gel.  Just two different forms of the same ingredients.

I just ordered chocolate and cherry.
Any tips with applications other than getting the gingiva very dry?

“Purchase a Revelation or SSI-202/402 dental surgery microscope, beam splitter and video adapter and receive a free CCD High Resolution color camera with composite and S-Video output, Model number SI300002”

I’m sure Stefan can give you more info.

    Ron,

WOW……that’s what preps look like with the microscope? What wonderful pictures!

My wish list is getting longer. Maybe I should just forget the 6x loupes and run with the “big dogs”.
